Shutdown Monitor

Version 1.10

Download

When clicking on Download in the download section, you will be redirected to the website Uploadfiles.io, where you will face the following view:

Click on Free Download to start the download of the *.zip- file

Install

To install Shutdown Manager you just have to extract the *.zip- file into the folder you'd like to. I recommend you to choose an empty folder.

After you extracted the *.zip- file, the contents of the folder should look similar to this. If something is missing, something went wrong and I recommend to retake the steps before.

Also, you can see the ShutdownMonitor.exe here now. Double click on it, to start the program and initiate it. To execute the program, it has to be located in this folder.

First Startup

Whenever you start the shutdown manager, it will immediately retrieve into the system tray. That makes it especially convenient when you autostart the program.

With a right click on the icon you can then either:

  • Restore the window
  • Quit the program (terminates it)

Setting your limits

There are a few interface components which I will explain in the following.

Days:

On the left you can see the days, that the program will shut down your PC according to your schedule. By enabling it, it will shut your PC down. By disabling it (untick the checkbox), the program won't do anything on that day and ignore all set time limits.

You can un/check them all by ticking the checkbox at the top "(Un)check all".

Graphically, a disabled day is represented as a semi- transparent, and an enabled day is represented as a solid rectangle.

Lower time limit:

The lower time limit is the limit, up to which the PC will be shut down. It starts from 00:00 o'clock and ends at the user specified time. In the time period from 00:00 o'clock to the user specified time, the PC will shut itself down. You can disable it by unticking the checkbox at the top, if you wish to have no limit in your PC usage from the start of the day.

A lower time limit can never be higher than the upper time limit.

Note that the the disabling of the lower time limit won't be represented graphically in the timeline.

You can use the slider or the spinboxes to set your limit in the hh:mm format.

Upper time limit:

The upper time limit is the limit, from which on the PC will be shut down. It starts at the user specified time and ends at 00:00 o'clock.

You can disable it by unticking the checkbox at the top, if you wish to have no limit in your PC usage until the end of the day.

An upper time limit can never be lower than the lower time limit.

Note that the the disabling of the upper time limit won't be represented graphically in the timeline.

You can use the slider or the spinboxes to set your limit in the hh:mm format.

Warning Dialog:

If you wish to be warned before the PC will be shut down (which I strongly recommend!), tick the checkbox beside the "Show warning __ minutes before shutdown". You can then specify the time with the spinbox.

Apply:

When everything is as you wish it to be, you can click the "Apply" button, to take your changes into effect.

Reset:

The reset button resets the changes you've made to the limits to the settings that we're set before.

After your limits are set

The blue rectangles represent the time period your PC won't be shut down in. When the red line, which represents the current time, is out of the boundaries of the respective rectangle of the day, the PC will shut down.

On the left side you can see the weekday indicators for the corresponding time rectangles.

On the bottom are numbers, which represent the hours of the day. The grey, vertical line on the right of every hour is the end of the hour.

Semi- transparent rectangles mean that the day is disabled, and thus the SM won't do anything on that day. A solid, filled rectangle is an enabled day.

In the upper left corner is a detailed time indicator.

If you ticked the warn before shutdown box in the limits view, you will receive a warning before the program will shut down your PC.

The time is variable (0  - 59 min.).

Make sure to safe all work!

Help View

The help view will give you fast information about the program. It is quite self explanatory.

A last note

When you start the PC out of the boundaries you've specified, the program will assume you did it on purpose and it wont shut down you PC. To make the program work again, you have to restart it.
